Make sure the website you are buying from is diplaying a padlock in the browser, never buy from a website that does not display a padlock on the payment page.

3D Secure is considered the online version of the 'Chip and Pin' as the cardholder has a personalised password registered with their card that is entered during the checkout process. 3D Secure was predicted to become the industry standard for all online transactions by the end of 2008 . All online consumers will soon become as familiar with 3D Secure, as they have with their ‘Pin’ number when withdrawing money or paying for a product in a store.
