The Microlab 600 offers labs a way to securely monitor processes and greatly increase efficiency. No more adjusting pipettes and recalculating dilutions. Quickly recall stored dispenses and dilutions with Favourites. Trigger the hand probe or tap the foot switch to actuate the syringe drives according to a predefined program.

The Microlab 600 (ML600) is a highly precise syringe pump with a touchscreen interface designed to quickly and easily dilute and dispense fluids. This positive displacement system provides better than 99% accuracy, independent of a liquid's viscosity, vapor pressure, and temperature. The inert fluid path minimises sample carryover and is compatible with harsh chemicals.
Every laboratory has tasks that are too small to automate and too large to reliably accomplish by hand. The ML600 is a semi-automated liquid handling machine designed specifically for those in-between applications that increase throughput and consistency while reducing cost and wasted buffer.
The Dual Syringe Diluter configuration uses two syringes to create up to a 1:50,000 dilution in a single step. This drastically reduces both preparation time and wasted buffer. The diluent washes the tubing between each sample, minimising carryover for even the most sensitive techniques including:
The Single, Dual and Continuous Syringe Dispensers offer flexibility and customisation to meet your lab's dispensing needs
The ML600 is able to dispense volumes from 100 nL to 50 mL. The ML600 uses positive displacement syringes to accurately dispense volatile, viscous and dense liquids independent of atmospheric influences. The inert fluid path is compatible with harsh chemicals, making the Microlab 600 the most reliable and robust dispensing system available.
Example: sample and standard dilutions for analytical techniques, such as AA/ICP, GC, and HPLC, can be prepared directly into auto-sampler vials with final volumes as small as 1,000µL
Dilution | Solven Volume (Diluent) |
Sample Volume | Final Volume (Diluted Sample) |
---|---|---|---|
1/4 | 750µl | 250µl | 1,000µl |
1/10 | 900µl | 100µl | 1,000µl |
1/25 | 960µl | 40µl | 1,000µl |
1/50 | 980µl | 20µl | 1,000µl |
1/100 | 990µl | 10µl | 1,000µl |
1/250 | 996µl | 4µl | 1,000µl |
1/500 | 998µl | 2µl | 1,000µl |
1/1,000 | 999µl | 1µl | 1,000µl |
If the above dilution were prepared in a standard 50ml volumetric flask then the minimum saving in solvent would be 37.5ml per sample up to a maximum of 49ml per sample. This results in significant cost saving in preparing samples using expensive solvents.
There are also significantly reduced disposal costs as a minimum of solvent is used to prepare samples and standards.
Every laboratory has tasks too small to automate and too large to reliably accomplish by hand. The Microlab 600 is a semi-automated liquid handler designed specifically for these in-between applications that increases throughput and consistency while reducing cost and wasted buffer.
Eliminate technician-to-technician method variability.
Simplify compliance to method documentation requirements for regulations and standards, such as those of the EPA, FDA (GLP, GMP), and ISO.
Achieve certified accuracy within ± 1.0% and precision within ± 0.2%, traceable to N.I.S.T.
Dramatically reduced solvent consumption and sample volume requirements (smaller samples can be used to prepare dilutions and require less diluent)
Reduced waste disposal costs (samples up directly into a HPLC / GC Vial rather than volumetric flask, less waste to dispose of)
Eliminate the requirement for expensive volumetric glassware (make samples up directly into a HPLC / GC Vial rather than volumetric flasks)
Save time during sample preparation (or prepare more sample in the same timeframe).
Reduce analyst fatigue by eliminating the need to perform a volumetric pipette at eye level for long periods.
Deliver more than one solvent at the same time. Many Assay and Content Uniformity methods require multiple solvents in tubes to test samples. Deliver 2 at the same time to save valuable time and reduce operator fatigue.
The Wizards allow Dilution, Dispense and Custom Methods to be generated quickly. The methods can then be saved as a 'Favourite' to allow methods to be recalled quickly. This reduces technician-to-technician method variability as each step of the method is highlighted on screen and the progress can easily be determined at any time.
Custom methods involving multiple dilutions, Internal Standard addition, calibration standards preparation etc can be stored on an SD card and backed up to a computer.
The SD Card can be copied to allow methods to be quickly programmed on additional instruments by simply inserting a programmed SD card into the new instrument.
For labs requiring traceability the ML600 provides the option to force users to login before they can create, edit or run methods. The Security Settings manage the use of User Accounts, the expiration of the User Keys and the maximum number of times an incorrect User Key can be entered before the user account is locked.
Meet 21 CFR Part 11 requirements using custom security options and restricting the ability of log files to be altered. Read more about 21 CFR Part 11 compliance.
Take full command of your diluting and dispensing applications with the Microlab 600 standalone syringe pump. The standalone syringe pump allows you to custom program methods and deploy commands to any instrument on your network from anywhere in the world, giving you unparalleled control of your process.
The standalone syringe pump comes with an Application Programming Interface (API) compatible with Windows® computers running Microsoft® .NET version 2.0 or higher. Sample programs written in LabVIEW®, Visual Basic® and Visual C#® lay the groundwork for your own coding.
The Microlab 600 controller provides the ability to save a log of pump activities to the SD card.
For regulated customers requiring 21 CFR Part 11 compliance, Electronic Signatures can be enabled if the Security Settings are also enabled. Once Electronic Signatures are enabled, all Wizards and Custom Methods must be logged. If multiple systems are used by the same laboratory, a unique controller name can be entered to simplify the management of log files.
Log files created on the Microlab 600 can be viewed and printed directly from the controller by purchasing the Printer Upgrade Kit.
The Microlab 600 SD card can store hundreds of log files depending on the number of activities recorded in each log. For archiving purposes Hamilton has provided a PC application on the Advanced CD called LyncStore®. This application allows for management and archiving of files transferred from the SD card to a PC. From this PC application, you can filter, archive, view and print log files.
"The Hamilton ML600 auto-dilutor is a useful time saving device in the laboratory. I use this instrument routinely for accurate dilution of samples. The unit is reliable with reproducible accuracy on every dilution. The auto refill function and stored personalised programmes are very useful features. The unit is very easy to use and the training provided by lab unlimited on installation is excellent. I would recommend this unit to anybody doing routine dilutions where reproducibility and accuracy are required."Melanie Lane
"We have had a number of older Hamilton 500 series diluters for a number of years scattered throughout our various labs. Also in our possession is a Microlab 1000 unit which is still a great diluter in daily use. When we moved into new labs early this year we had an equipment budget which facilitated the upgrade of our suite of diluters.Margaret Murray
Given our long experience of the Hamilton range, the ease of use, availability of replacement syringes, great accuracy over a wide range of volumes and fantastic precision, there was no contest when it came to choosing the latest Hamilton 600 series. If anything this unit is even sturdier than its predecessors. In particular, the holder for the hand probe has been redesigned to last, as the older ones tended to break rather easily. Changing the syringes is even easier than before with knurled finger grips top and bottom. The tubing is protected from kinking by the use of spring protectors at the joints.
But where the 600 really shines is in its ease of use. While you can programme methods at will and change programmes easily, we find the ‘Quick Start’ function to be its best feature. With a simple touch screen keypad you change sample and aspirate volumes in a few seconds, the screen clearly showing what step you are at. So it really is an ‘everyday’ diluter but is as sophisticated as you the user want to make it. There is no need to talk about its accuracy/precision; we took this for granted and have not been disappointed.”
