The DVNext Wells-Brookfield Cone/Plate Rheometer is a precise torque meter that is driven at discrete rotational speeds. It gives researchers a sophisticated instrument for determining the absolute viscosity of fluids in small sample volumes.


The torque measuring systems senses the resistance to rotation caused by the presence of sample fluid between the cone and stationary flat plate. The resistance to the rotation of the cone produces a torque that is proportional to the shear stress in the fluid. The reading can be easily converted to absolute centipoise units from pre-calculated range charts. Viscosity can also be calculated from the known geometric constants of the cone, the rate of rotation and the stress related torque.

The DVNext Rheometer provides a variety of shear rates and viscosity ranges; different models can be selected to meet the specific range of viscosities and shear rates that are needed. Small sample volumes required allows rheological evaluations to be made on materials where sample availability can be limited like biological fluids and thick film coatings.

The Rheometer has an advanced Electronic Gap Setting feature that allows a faster set-up time and minimizes the possibility of gap adjustment errors. It only takes a simple turn of the micrometre adjustment ring and the gap is set which is more efficient than manual detection methods.
